High-tensile steel ropes from Geobrugg permit imposing, light-weight stadium and hall constructions. In comparison with massive supporting structures, considerable weight and material are saved here. The flexibility of the wire ropes makes installation much easier, making the process quicker and more cost-effective. Span widths of up to approximately 170 meters are possible.

Project
Skilled Park Stadium near Brisbane, is a rugby, soccer and events arena, seating up to 27,000. Two aspects were uppermost from the initial planning: The stadium should acquire an especially intensive atmosphere and be characterized by a high degree of cost-effectiveness. Important in achieving the latter was the light-weight PTFE membrane which over-spans and surrounds the stands. The dense membrane construction retains noise and light, and protects the spectators from the weather. Geobrugg delivered approximately 350 steel ropes with the high grade and durable GALFAN coating in diameters of between 16–22 mm. The ropes serve to tension and stabilize the membranes in their positions.
